 SEPTEMBER 20, 2018 NEWSDESK: 0161 379 0250/0251
The school’s Open Evening is on Thursday 4th October from 6pm to 8.30pm
For state students it hasn’t always been
a level playing field, until now. Laurus Ryecroft is a new secondary school that is unashamedly academic with a desire for the relentless pursuit of excellence and a determination to ensure that every child succeeds.
Providing much-needed secondary school places in the area, Laurus Ryecroft is a non-selective, non-denominational 11- 18 school. It opened its doors last month to 150 Year 7s in six forms with 30 students in each. A further six Year 7 forms will be added each academic year. In addition to this, the school will have a sixth form of 300 students.
The school is run by The Laurus Trust and aims to replicate the outstanding education already provided by the trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), where all students, re- gardless of background or circumstance,
develop the qualities to open the door to the future of their choice.
CHHS, in Stockport, is a very successful and hugely oversubscribed school and was recently named in the Sunday Times ‘Par- ent Power’ Top 25 comprehensive schools in the country. Its GCSE and A Level results are the best for state schools in the area and are better than many independ- ent schools. It has been deemed ‘outstand- ing’ by Ofsted in its last two inspections.
So what can you expect from Laurus Ryecroft?
Our students will have access to state-of- the-art facilities in a brand new building off Cryer Street in Droylsden. Laurus Ryecroft provides an excellent and well-rounded education for all its students, regardless of their backgrounds, preparing them well for their future careers.
Our ‘unashamedly academic’ curriculum ensures that every student recognises what it takes to succeed, sets aspirational goals and works hard to achieve them with the support of a highly qualified and dedi- cated team of education professionals.
This is all underpinned by our Corner- stones: Academic Aspiration, Leadership and Service, Competition and Physical Endeavour, and Culture, Creativity and Rhetoric.
Head of School Martin Vevers is a Specialist Leader of Education and committed to providing the very best ed- ucation for his students. He has always been focused on effective teaching and learning and the improvement of class- room practice.
In 2008, Martin was awarded Sec- ondary Teacher of the Year in the North West. Martin has had 16 years teaching experience, with eight years as a mem- ber of a leadership team.
You are warmly invited to meet Martin Vevers, and our staff, and find out more at our Open Evening on Thursday 4th October from 6pm – 8.30pm at Laurus Ryecroft, Cryer Street, Droylsden, Manchester M43 7LF.
