Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a flat in Denton last night.

Officers were called to Denton Court at around 10.35pm after being alerted by the North West Ambulance Service to say that a 26-year-old woman had been found dead at the flat.

Two men aged 25 and 21, who were at the address, were taken into custody as witnesses but have since been arrested on suspicion of the woman’s murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.

A post mortem is now due to take place to identify the cause of the woman’s death.

The woman has not yet been formally identified.

Inspector Dan Clegg of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “First of all my thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this devastating time. We will leave no stone unturned in order to give them the answers they deserve.

“We are yet to know the cause of the woman’s death but the circumstances in which she was found have led us to believe her death is unfortunately suspicious.

“We are appealing for anyone who may know something about her death to get in touch as soon as possible, any information, no matter how small could be vital to our investigation.”
