Investigation launched after 17-year-old raped in Ashton

An investigation has been launched after reports that a teenager has been raped in Ashton-under-Lyne.

A wooded area underneath the bridge on Cavendish Street has been cordoned off and monitored by police.

Officers were called to the location near the Asda Ashton Superstore shortly after 10pm on Tuesday the 6th November.

Police attended and are now providing specialist support to the 17-year-old girl – an investigation has been launched with ongoing enquiries.
