Hyde 237-9

Macclesfield 112 ao

ECB CHeshire County League Division One

All-rounder Danny Cranmer produced a match-winning display as Hyde moved within touching distance of the ECB Division 1 title, following a crushing victory over Macclesfield.

After winning the toss, Macc asked Hyde to bat first and they reached 27 before Tom Partridge misjudged a delivery and was clean bowled by Craig Melrose for 11.

Ben Allcock made 24 before he was the second man to go with the score on 53.

With a number of key players absent, the pressure fell on the middle order to post a total which would prove challenging to the hosts. Once again James Duffy was the difference as he top scored with 68.

The innings seemed delicately poised at 147-5, with Cranmer joining Duffy at the crease. However, Cranmer’s superb knock of 55 not out meant Hyde closed their innings on an above par 237-9.

Skipper Danny Berry joined Cranmer in opening the bowling. Berry (4-58) and spinner Cranmer (5-35) proved far too skilful for the hosts as they ripped through the Macclesfield batting, reducing them to 45-9.

Craig Melrose, who bludgeoned a superb 60, was last man out as Macc fell for just 112.

Hyde now need one more victory from their last three games to wrap up promotion and the title. This could come  when they host fourth placed Oxton on Saturday.
