The British Army is running a host of recruitment events across Tameside and Oldham next week.

The events will help local people find out more about what a career in the British Army is like and what opportunities are on offer. Local soldiers and career advisers will be available for people to talk to and answer any questions about the breadth of roles available in the British Army as a Regular or Reservist.

Those who attend will be able to experience a 360-degree parachute jump or drive a Challenger 2 battle tank through virtual reality headsets. They can also test their reaction speeds and hand-eye coordination abilities on a Batak machine.

David Cook, Recruitment Operations Manager for Manchester, Stockport and Bolton, said: “We’re looking forward to hitting the streets of Greater Manchester with some great interactive kit and speaking to local people about the great range of roles and careers that the British Army can offer.

“We welcome people to come and chat to us and our serving soldiers about joining the Army and the options available to them.”

Between Tuesday August 28th and Friday August 31st, from 10am-4pm every day, the British Army will be at:

  • The Arcades, Ashton;
  • Clarendon Square, Hyde;
  • The Spindles, Oldham;
  • Albion Street, Oldham.

On Thursday August 30th, there is also a presentation evening about the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, held in Failsworth. You can book a space for the evening through the local Armed Forces Career Office on 0161 236 6840.
