A man has been charged after a teenager was sexually assaulted in Stalybridge earlier this week.

24-year-old Simon Marsland, of Ullswater Terrace in Stalybridge, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Tameside Magistrates’ Court today (May 25th).

Just before 4pm on Tuesday afternoon (May 22nd), a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man on a pathway off Knowl Street, close to the canal.

Police stepped up patrols in the area in the wake of the attack and made an arrest yesterday.
