Droylsden 0-1 Kendal Town

The Bloods’ winless run in 2018 continued with a penalty on the half hour mark the difference between these two sides in a game of few chances.

Ritchie Branagan brought down Steeven Yawson after Droylsden had given the ball away and Gareth Arnison stepped up to convert in the corner.

The visitors had a good chance to score earlier, firstly Gavin Clarke shooting over after a great through ball then when a quick free kick found Arnison in space inside the box, a fine save by Branagan prevented a certain goal.

Bloods had few chances despite having much of the possession, the best falling to the head of Sefton Gonzales but the striker failed to find the target.

An early chance in the second half could have seen the visitors double their lead, Branagan saving low at his near post from Dawson while at the other end Kilheeney saw his goal bound shot deflected for a corner.

Levi Phillips came on for Callum Bagshaw and the winger created a wonderful chance for himself, cutting inside from the right into the box, but his weak shot was easily saved by Johnson.

The winger then supplied a precision cross to the head of Gonzales but the striker headed over from the edge of the six yard box.

The Bloods continued to press for an equaliser as the visitors sat back and absorbed the pressure. Shaquille Clarke nearly breaking the deadlock in the final minutes playing a one-two with Kilheeney only for his shot to whistle past the far post.
