One of Tameside’s oldest family businesses is set to expand their Tameside operation with the construction of a new ‘supply and distribution hub’ in Denton.

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham visited Francis Kirk last year to present an apprentice with an award

Francis Kirk Group, which celebrates it’s 150th year this year, already operates a 24,000 sq ft facility on the industrial estate just off Windmill Ln and is now looking to add a second 30,000 sq ft warehouse to meet growing demand for their products.

With a £7m turnover, the company are now looking at the new warehouse to make them move onto the next phase of growth.

Their current warehouse stocks over 600,000 items and provides immediate delivery to customers within a 35 mile radius, overnight service to the rest of the UK and ships product daily across Europe are the rest of the world.

The group supply a range of industries including automotive, oil and mining and owns the innovative, market-leading self-locking nut ‘Philidas’.

It is a major supplier of socket screws made by leading brands Holokrome and Unbrako and is the sole European supplier of Durlok anti-vibration bolts. It also stocks product from other premium brands such as Draper, Dormer, Gedore, Makita, Stanley.

Managing Director Tom Kirk said the move would maximise space on the site: “It was an easy decision. The site here in Denton allows easy access to the NW road network and beyond. It made sense to explore what more we could do.”
