POWER OUTAGES: A map of power cuts that have hit the region late on Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Electricity North West has been dealing with a whole series of power cuts yesterday evening and into the small hours this morning.

Areas affected have included Ashton, Failsworth, Oldham, plus areas across parts of Mossley, Lydgate, and into Saddleworth.

Hundreds of people have been left without power at stages over the last five hours with increasingly high winds and plummeting temperatures.

Electricity North West says it has had teams on site at all outages at the moment and hopes to restore power by 2am to the areas presently affected – but high winds mean work has had to temporarily stop on occasions for safety reasons.

Meanwhile the high winds have been causing other damage across the region.

As well as trees falling, Tameside Highways reported that a roof from a property near MG Domestic along Market Street in Hyde had been blown into the carriageway. The area had been cleared late last night (Thursday).
