Droylsden 1-3 Hyde United

Three second half goals saw Hyde claim all three points in this local derby which saw the visitors go top of the League and continued the Bloods record of having not won a game in 2018.

Droylsden had taken the lead after just nine minutes when centre half Jacques Kpohomouh volleyed in from the edge of the area from a Luke Daly corner and should have been two up minutes later when Crook saved well from Sefton Gonzales who was clean through on goal.

The Bloods had the better of the game in the first half but yet again failed to take the chances they created although the visitors had two claims for penalties waved away.

The game though turned in the second half, Hyde looking more dangerous from the outset and they were level just eight minutes in when substitute Karl Jones got on the end of a brilliant through ball from Tyrone Gay to score past Branagan.

Both Sefton Gonzales and Liam Caddick had chances for the Bloods, the former chipping an advancing Crook as he broke down the left, the ball landing on the roof of the net while another chip from Caddick was easily headed off the line.

With twenty minutes left, Hyde took the lead rather fortuitously, Max Leonard’s shot looked to be going wide but took a deflection leaving Branagan no chance in the Droylsden goal.

The goal galvanised the Bloods with John Shaw thwarted by an excellent save from Crook and Sefton Gonzales unmarked, heading wide from close range but with the home team pressing for an equaliser, Leonard made it three with just minutes remaining, striking home from a brilliant through ball from substitute Big Khamsuk.

The result leaves the Bloods in twelfth place, seven points off that final play off place.
