Dominating 90% of the match Oldham 3’s put in a brilliant team performance with a final score which simply does not reflect the level of work and quality of performance.

Moving together as a unit Oldham had a number of chances to score but were unable to convert.

The only goal of the match came from a controversial move by Greys with their attack starting from the use of a foot just inside Oldham’s half. Despite the best efforts of Oldham’s defence Greys scored and the goal was allowed to stand.

Irrespective of the final score Oldham 3’s were the stronger team and can take away many positives from such a united performance. Regan Lord was awarded opposition’s Player of the Match in her debut for the 3’s and Oldham’s legendary Right Back, Jayne Cooper was awarded Player of the Match by the Oldham Team.

Greater Manchester Women’s friendly league

Another great game for Oldham’s development team, and yet again play that didn’t reflect the score. All players from both teams gave 100% and the determination to secure a win was equal. Moss Park demonstrated good stick skills and made quicker decisions in play. Regan Lord, Oldham’s young goalie came under a lot of fire today but kept her head high under pressure. Oldham gained many fast breaks from the wings but none of them resulted in a goal in the first half. However, patience payed off and Daisy Shepherdson sent a great pass into the D, resulting in Carole Shockledge scoring Oldham’s only goal. However, Oldham were up against a formidable and experienced opponent, and the goals came thick and fast for Moss Park. Despite the 5-1 defeat against a much older and stronger opposition, the 4s still showed their determination in horrendous weather conditions.
