Man in critical condition after being hit by car in Ashton

Police are appealing for motorists to send in any Dashcam footage they may have after a man was critically injured in Ashton on Saturday evening.

At around 5:40pm Police were called to the junction of Park Parade and Cavendish Street to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A black Land Rover Discovery had been travelling along Park Parade in the direction of Manchester when it hit a 30-year-old man.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Police Constable Anthony Pye of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“In a split second this man has been left fighting for his life and my thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time.”

“If you saw something that could help with our understanding of how this situation unfolded, please share this with police as soon as you can.”

“Anyone with dash-cam footage that was travelling around Ashton-under-Lyne yesterday afternoon is asked to send a copy into the investigation unit to help with our investigation.”
