Mossley joint-manager Peter Band has been voted into the greatest ever New Mills starting XI.

Band, who was one of the most popular players to don a New Mills shirt in the last decade, has been described by the Millers’ website as ‘a real leader both on and off the pitch’.

A dominant presence on the pitch, Band was strong in the air but could also play with the ball at his feet as well.

Band enjoyed two seasons at Church Lane before departing to play for Woodley Sports.

New Mills’ Macron Cup tie at Abbey Hey has been postponed this evening due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Millers were last in action at FC Oswestry Town on Friday 29th December. The game ended 2-0 to the hosts.
