CORONATION Street star Kym Marsh will swap Weatherfield for Whippets and West Highland Terriers when she opens a brand new vet surgery in Ashton on Saturday, November 25.

Respected nationwide chain ‘The Vet’ will be launching a practice at Ashton Retail Park, Wellington Road – the firm’s first ever clinic in Greater Manchester.

And Corrie actress Kym – aka Michelle Connor – will be getting acquainted with some new four-legged friends as she cuts the ribbon at the official launch on Saturday 25th November.

Kym, the proud owner of Barney, a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, says she’s delighted to be part of the unveiling.

She said: “I’m a real animal lover, so any chance to meet some gorgeous new pets is welcome indeed!

“Barney had a bit of a health scare recently and I was so upset to see him unwell. It makes you realise how your pets really are part of the family.”

Kym’s visit, which will take place at 10am on the Saturday, will kick-start an open weekend where members of the public are invited along to see what the surgery has to offer.

The Vet specialises in offering high quality veterinary care at a lost-cost, with consultations costing from as little as £22.99. The team also offers free flea checks for concerned owners.

As part of their drive to cut costs for customers, anyone who registers with The Vet during the opening weekend in Ashton will get their first consultation free of charge.

Meanwhile the open weekend will also feature a play area for children, a face-painting artist, and members of staff from the Oldham-based Pennine Pen animal rescue charity, who will be showcasing some of the in-need cats, dogs and rabbits available for adoption.

Jessica Frame, CEO of The Vet, said: “At The Vet, our teams are highly trained professionals as well as being pet owners themselves so you can rely on a friendly welcome and the best quality care. Because we believe giving your pet the best care shouldn’t cost the earth we work hard to offer the best value prices in town. We’re so confident in our value that we offer a low price guarantee to give you peace of mind you don’t need to shop around.

“Because we’re pet owners too, we’ve designed our modern surgeries to provide the most relaxing environment for you and your pet. This includes separate cat and dog waiting areas, cat only consult rooms, coffee and tea and free wifi. We also have top class facilities including a laboratory, operating theatres and x-ray on site so you can get the best care all under one roof.

“We understand that life is busy so we’re open until 7pm during the week and on Saturday until lunchtime. We also offer times every day where you don’t need to book an appointment – you can just walk in and we’ll see you there and then. We hope this helps people to fit a visit in with the rest of their schedules.

“But no need to take my word for it – please come along to the open weekend, to have a chat with our brilliant team, have a behind the scenes tour, enjoy free games for kids and register with us to get a free vet consultation for use anytime before the new year”

The Vet also has clinics in Bristol, Liverpool, Warrington, Nottingham, Southampton, Waltham Forest and Morden, south London.

As with other clinics, The Vet will also be looking to launch a free pet weight loss clinic, as they recently announced for their Warrington branch.
