Howard Place,Hyde. Suspected arsonists set alight two industrial size waste bins in two separate locations on Sunday morning.

Waste in two large bins was set alight  in Hyde town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning requiring the Fire and Rescue Service to deploy five appliances to extinguish them.

Four fire engines from Gorton, Ashton under Lyne, Stalybridge and Hyde, along with an aerial appliance from Whitehill were called to Howard Place in Hyde at 6.00 am (October 8).

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find two waste bins had been set alight in different locations at the back of a large building.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one jet and two hose reels to deal with the blazes.

Once the fires were out fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for any further fires and hotspots.

The cause of the fire is understood to have been deliberate, firefighters were at the incident for 35 minutes.
