Saddleworth Rangers RLFC suffered a 34-14 reverse away at Crosfields last Saturday, although the final score does not tell the full story.

Despite conceding two converted tries in the opening 10 minutes, Rangers did not let their heads drop and pulled four points back thanks to Josh Bradbury’s try a minute before the break, to go in 12-4 down.

Although not converted it gave the Saddleworth side a boost as they started they came out for the second half.

That optimism was rewarded moments later as they reduced the deficit to just two points when Nathan Roebuck went over with Ben Whitehead adding the extras.

At 12-10 the game was firmly in the balance, but four minutes later Brad Stanway had stretched Crosfields lead to eight points with the home side’s third try of the afternoon.

However with the game approaching the hour mark there was still just eight points between the sides.

That was until Hayden James went over for Crosfields with Jack Reid kicking his fourth conversion of the afternoon to make the score 24-10.

Chris Hull then added a fifth try for the Warrington-based side with just eight minutes left. Danny Bowker did grab a consolation try for Rangers, but Reid completed the scoring with a try and a conversion to give Crosfields a comprehensive looking victory.
