Stalybridge Celtic have announced the signing of experienced striker John Cofie.

The 24-year-old has previously played for Burnley and Manchester United, but more recently spent time on-loan with Chorley.

Cofie, who has also represented England at U17 level, will link up with Liam Dickinson, Matty Wolfenden and Jake Charles in the attacking department.

He made his debut in the 1-0 loss to Buxton on Tuesday, coming on as a second half substitute in what marked Celtic’s seventh loss of the season.

Cofie has likely been signed as a replacement for the departing Aaron Burns, who has left Bower Fold to re-join Trafford.

Burns, who joined the club from Trafford over summer, scored just once in nine appearances.

Elsewhere, midfielder Lassana-Mendes has also left the club.

Celtic continue with their FA Cup campaign against Chorley at Bower Fold on Saturday.
