Hardworking volunteers for the Emmaus charity in Mossley have taken a brief and well earned break to enjoy a nice ‘cuppa’ and an official “Thank you” for their contribution to the charity.

A special event was organised by the homeless charity’s directors who treated them to a Volunteers Afternoon Tea event.

The volunteers were also presented with certificates recognising their selfless contribution to one of Mossley’s most popular and enduring charities, which helps re-settle and house formerly homeless people and provide them with work.

As well as certificate presentations there was a chance for volunteers to socialise and meet each other.

The event coincided with Volunteers’ Week that celebrates the contribution made by the millions of volunteers across the UK.

Angie Taylor a volunteer at the Emmaus Carity in Mossley says she is :’Addicted” to working at “amazing Emmaus”

Angie Taylor, a volunteer at Emmaus Mossley, who gives her time to help out in the clothing area said:“I have been an avid supporter of Emmaus for over 15 years and for the last seven I have also been a regular volunteer here on a Saturday in the clothes department. You could say I’m addicted! It really is ‘amazing Emmaus’ – come and see us on a Saturday for a personal shopping experience.”

Emmaus Mossley provides a home and meaningful work for 26 people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. The charity’s volunteers assist in a variety of roles in the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore – sorting donations, helping in the charity shop, upcycling items and refurbishing furniture in the workshop.

Alison Hill, Director at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We have a dedicated and diverse group of people who volunteer at Emmaus Mossley week in, week out. I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every volunteer who contributes to the vital work we do at Emmaus Mossley. Without their support, our community and social enterprise could not achieve all that it does so we are extremely grateful for their time, skills and passion.”

Emmaus volunteers enjoying their special Volunteers Afternoon Tea laid on by grateful charity directors who also presented their hardworking volunteers with certificates. It was also a great opportunity for the volunteers to come together and socialise.
