Curzon Ashton Football Club has announced a new partnership with New Charter Homes to deliver a community based football programme.

The support from New Charter has enabled the Club to appoint a Community Development Manager, Andy Cheshire.

Andy will promote sporting and community opportunities at Curzon Ashton, including building partnerships with local organisations and community users.

The new role will enable the club to maximise its community benefit, meet the community impact outcomes required by the club, deliver a measurable and lasting benefit to Tameside and to implement the vision for the club to deliver sustainable community programmes with key partners.

CEO Natalie Atkinson said: “I am delighted to announce this new role and to welcome Andy to the Club.

“Having seen Andy’s work previously he is a real asset to the Club, in what I see as a key area of development work for us within the community across Tameside.

“The new partnership with New Charter will see a number of football related initiatives delivered for residents and using the power of football to impact on peoples lives”

New Charter’s Deputy Chief Executive Tony Powell said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Curzon Ashton Football Club as we share many of the same aims by providing football as a tool to reduce anti-social behaviour, provide opportunities for our residents and helping people into paid or voluntary work.

“We will be working closely with the football club to deliver a number of programmes over the next two years”
