Tintwistle Athletic returned to winning ways on Saturday as they won 4-0 against Newton 1st.

Athletic took an early lead through a penalty from Jonny Higgins and then doubled their lead midway through the first half as a shot from Higgins was deflected past the Newton keeper. Tom Burns then scored the goal of the game shortly before half time as he beat a defender on the edge of the area before firing into the top right hand corner. Burns added his second midway through the second half as he again left the keeper with no chance with a shot from outside the area.

Tintwistle Athletic reserves ran out 7-2 winners against Hargreaves Bury, Tom Bright opening the scoring with a long-range effort after a mistake from Bury’s keeper. Goals then came at regular intervals from Ant Hayward (2), Jack Storer, Danny Grahamslaw and Luke Mettrick (2). Luke scoring the last with a sublime chip over the keeper.

However, Tintwistle Athletic 3rds lost out 2-4 against Deans First Team but remain second in the table.

Tintwistle Athletic U14’s made it back-to-back wins against neighbours Glossop with a 3-1 home win in a tense hard-tackling game. Glossop took the lead after a good run from Will Fisher, which woke up Athletic who had started the game slowly. The equaliser came just before half time from a Bradley Page corner which was powerfully met by the head of Kieran Coggin. Tintwistle took the lead after some lovely passing around the midfield area ended with Cameron eventually putting Brad through who coolly beat the keeper. The third goal came after another biting challenge in midfield by Lewis who then lifted the ball over the top for Cameron to head over the Glossop keeper and into the net. Scorers Kieran Coggin Cameron Cooper Bradley Page and Mom Lewis Woolstencroft.

Tintwistle Athletic U11 Blues fought for each other, trying to get the ball down in awful conditions. Goal from Jack M, MOM’s Jake & Oliver.
