Stourbridge 4-1 Ashton United

Ashton United were unable to take momentum from Saturday’s victory against Sutton Coldfeild Town into last night’s encounter at Stourbridge, instead falling to a 4-1 loss at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

Victory lifts the Glassboys to second in the Evo-Stik Premier table and just seven points below table-topping Blyth Spartans, while Ashton remain in 14th spot and seven points below the playoff zone.

Stourbridge were looking to build on Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Coalville Town and they did just that in the early stages.

Kayelden Brown opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before Thomas Tonks doubled the lead in the 31st minute.

The hosts were three goals to the good before the half-time whistle thanks to Jordan Archer in the 41st minute.

Although Ashton joint-manager Will Haining gave his side a lifeline in the early stages of the second-half, Stourbridge went on to cap off a memorable evening with a fourth goal in the 71st minute.

Brown notched his second of the night to seal his side an important three points.
