Police partially closed Park Parade in Ashton at the junction with Cavendish Street tonight when a man was injured after being involved in a collision with a car.

The incident happened just after 8pm this evening with three police cars and an ambulance attending the scene.

The man is believed to have been crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing from Asda when the collision occurred.  The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

Police closed Park Parade at the junction for a time leading to long tailbacks of traffic to the BT Roundabout and in the direction of Stalybridge.

The incident comes just two weeks after a collision at virtually the exact same spot – and time – when a pedestrian was left with serious injuries after himself being involved in a collision with a car.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to that collision which happened on Sunday, January 15, at 8.05pm – as this picture shows.

Anyone who can help police is asked to call (0161) 856 4741.
