Police seek driver in Ashton hit and run

Police are seeking  help from the public in identifying the driver of a lime green Ford Focus that  failed-to-stop following a  collision in which a 15-year-old boy was injured.

The incident happened shortly before 7.35pm on Tuesday evening, 3 January 2017, on Wellington Road. Ashton-under-Lyne.

The car was travelling towards Ikea when it was involved in a collision with the 15-year-old male pedestrian.

The boy was taken to hospital suffering from a  broken leg fractured in two places.

Police officers have now launched an investigation and enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver, they would also like to speak to a woman driver who stopped at the accident location.

Police Constable Bailey of GMP’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry to trace the driver of the Ford Focus but need the public to come forward with information to assist us.

“I’m also keen to speak to a woman who stopped at the scene and spoke with the casualty’s friends.

“If you have any information, or if you are the woman who stopped at the scene, please get in contact with police.”
