A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after being knocked off his bike by a double-decker bus on Hyde Road in west Gorton.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was involved in the collision at the junction of Hyde Road and Glencastle Road close to the Belle Vue Stadium just before midday today (Saturday).

Police confirmed he was taken to hospital by ambulance after emergency crews – including three police vans – raced to the scene, close to Belle Vue train station.

The northbound carriageway of Hyde Road remains open, however, traffic is moving slowly and being diverted down Williams Road, with motorists advised to avoid the area where possible.
