This comes on the heels of Curzon Ashton’s success at both the Pride of Tameside Sports Awards and the Greater Manchester Sports Awards where they won Club of the Year as well as moving into the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Active Tameside have also seen a successful year with the opening of their new attraction Total Adrenaline and work due to be completed on their 24/7 gym iTrain in January, part of the £20m investment with Tameside Council to support the people of Tameside to be more physically active.

The exciting partnership aims to enrich the lives of the local community, increase the levels of physical activity within Tameside and provide additional opportunities for local people and sports organisations to participate in football and develop their skills, particularly among those with low participation rates.

The two organisations also plan to work together on maximising their brand across the borough as well as being at the heart of communities delivering a high-quality coaching programme, promoting the Tameside Stadium as well as linking it to community programmes making sure it is a place for football development in all areas including playing, coaching and volunteering.

Curzon Ashton FC CEO Natalie Atkinson is quoted as saying: “We have been working with Active Tameside for some time now to develop a real community football lead partnership programme that will enrich people’s lives and am absolutely thrilled at today’s announcement, this is fantastic for our Club to be a focus club for the Trust and I truly believe this will develop and enhance our brand football programmes across Tameside.”

CEO for Active Tameside Mark Tweedie said: “Our vision is to inspire people to live well and feel great and we are really looking forward to growing our partnership with Curzon Ashton FC to help us expand that work.

“Football is embedded in the heart of our community so this is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as two organisations who are passionate about physical activity to really make a difference in Tameside.”
