Bolton Wanderers have moved to second in League One after beating local rivals Bury 2-0 on Monday.

Former Audenshaw School pupil Zach Clough scored both goals from the penalty spot.

The 21-year-old notched his first in the 13th minute after being brought down inside the box by former school mate, Niall Maher.

Maher joined the Shakers at the start of this season after being released by Bolton over summer.

Clough put the game beyond any reasonable doubt in 56th minute after converting his second spot kick.

The number 10, who rejected a big-money move to Britsol City over summer, found his efforts rewarded with the Man of the Match trophy.

Bolton are back in League One action against Port Vale at the Macron Stadium on Saturday.

Vale enter the game just one point outside the playoff zone.
