Age UK Tameside to mark Old People’s Day

On Saturday, Age UK Tameside will be showcasing its range of services and how they meet the many needs of people aged over 50 – mark Old People Day.

Residents are invited to drop into the Independent Living Centre at 131 Katherine Street, Ashton, between 10am and 1pm to find out more about activities and the support services on offer.

From walking football, exercise classes and day support at Age UK’s centres in Ashton and Glossop, to dementia support and advice services, Age UK offer something to support everyone, whatever their experience of later life.

“We’re very pleased to open our doors on Older People’s Day so that older people from Tameside can find out about what we do,” said Bernadette Ashcroft, Age UK Tameside’s Chief Officer.

“We really take a person’s individual needs into account when they get in touch with us because being older doesn’t automatically mean being frail or no longer able to do things for yourself.

“We come into contact with hundreds and hundreds of people in later life every year and no two people’s needs are the same. We are here for everyone.”
