ASHTON United have announced the resignation of the club’s Social Media Manager and Supporters’ Club Chairman, Ken Philburn.

He has had to step down from his roles at Hurst Cross for health and family reasons, having helped put the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division team on the map in recent years with his tireless work for the club – particularly on social media.

Ken said: “I do hope to be able to visit the odd game and of course will follow the club eagerly on social media. I love the club and everything about it but have been finding it difficult to manage the roles in the way I would like.”

Vice-chairman Steve Hobson added: “I know that Ken is bitterly disappointed at having to relinquish his roles in the club.

“His move away from Ashton to the Fylde coast has placed increasing demands on his time, not least the journey to and from Ashton.

“Ken is not one to do things by half and the pressure of fulfilling his roles and supporting his family has placed too much pressure on him.

“Whilst we are bitterly disappointed that he will no longer be part of the Robins backroom support team we fully understand and respect his decision. He will always be a big part of the Ashton family.”

The club are currently looking for a replacement for Ken and, if you are interested in the role, you can contact Steve Hobson on 07868 849184 or [email protected]
