Promotion Party – Tameside Netball Club Secure Promotion To The First Division

Members of Tameside Netball Club are currently celebrating after a hugely successful weekend.

The Under 14 and Under 16 squads’ competed in regional league semi-finals, whilst the Prem 2 squad travelled to Telstars in a bid to achieve promotion.

A nail biting regional semi-final saw the Under 14’s win by one goal against Chester, thus qualifying them for the National Finals.

The Under 16’s replicated that success using their own winning formula to beat Oldham 42-17.

The highlight of Sunday took place in Kent, where the Prem 2 squad clinched promotion to the first division after successfully beating Telstars 55-47.

The victory ensured that the club remain unbeaten throughout the entirety of the season.

Furthermore, Leia Griffin netted the squads 1000th goal of the season towards the end of the third quarter.

The club confirmed on Monday morning that Leia, along with Ella Standring and Hannah Williams had been selected for the National Academy.

The girls will attend camps in Easter and in August where final selections into the national Academy will be made.

Kelsie Taylor has been invited to attend the National Academy Potential Group.

Tameside Head Coach, Paul Harper, took to twitter following the games. He said: “Super proud of the Prem squad. Unbeaten all season. Prem 1 next season and northing more than this squad deserves”.

He added: “Well done to Makissa and Saffy on their debuts for Prem. #futuretalent”.
