Sala Soccer Schools U14 futsal team secured their place in the FA People’s Cup Regional Final last week.

The squad competed in the Manchester Round of the competition last Friday at Powerleague Union, Manchester.

The FA People’s Cup took place over the weekend with 4,352 teams and more than 35,000 players taking part in over 2000 hours of football.

With the first round occurring at 120 different football centres across England, starting on Friday afternoon through until Sunday, there was no shortage of action.

Sala’s Under 14 squad – trained by Neil Lucas on Friday evenings at Wright Robinson Sports College – were one of ten sides vying for a place in the semi-final stage.

Lucas – founder of Sala Soccer Schools – heaped praise on the way his side had played. He told Reporter Sport: “The standard of teams were really high and after getting through the tough group stage the boys had to endure a really tough battle against Fitton Hill FC in the semi-final who were a very physical side.”

Luckily for Sala their quality shined through, and their efforts were rewarded with a tie against Rovers FC – a team full of Blackburn Rovers Academy Players – in the final.

Neil added: “The Sala team played some very good stuff running out 3-0 winners and booking their place in the regional finals to be played over the weekend of 27/28 February.

“I was very proud of my boys who used their futsal grounding to great effect on the 5 a side pitches.”
