A group has started in Glossop with the aim of helping people affected by the new Universal Credit legislation.

To get Glossopdale for Social Justice off the ground, there is a benefit concert at Glossop Labour Club on Saturday, January 23.

Organiser Kasey Carver says it’s to raise money for advice material for people affected by benefit sanctions and delays in benefits.

She said: “Claimants who switch over to Universal Credit will experience at least six weeks of delay to their funding which is going to cause problems for many.

“Our group has been in touch with all the support services in the area to draw up advice to distribute to those who would need help over this period.”

The 8.30pm start benefit gig features Bo Weavil, with folk, blues, country and reggae.

Lazlo Baby will also feature with their folksy, ska, gypsy and Irish music.

Tickets are £5 and £3 (concessions). You can pay on the door.
