A Stalybridge youngster has sacrificed her beloved locks of hair in the name of charity.

Nine-year-old Kaci-Leigh Gaffney has always wanted hair like Rapunzel and according to mum Paula: “She won’t even allow you to trim it. The last time she visited the hairdressers was quite dramatic as it is very precious to her.”

But Kaci has taken the brave step and decided to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust; a charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls throughout the UK and Ireland who have sadly lost their hair through cancer treatment.

The idea was entirely her own, ‘to help the poorly children.’

After her dance lesson at the TCA Tycoons Academy in Stalybridge, Kaci had her hair cut to shoulder-length at Studio 23 in Denton. It previously reached down to her legs.

Her dance coach Jane Wood was full of praise for Kaci. She said: “She’s been coming to Tycoons for quite some time and we know how much she doesn’t like her hair being cut.

“When she told us she was getting it done, we were extremely proud of her, especially for the reasons behind it.”

Kaci aimed to raise £350, the amount it costs to purchase a wig, but smashed that and at the time of writing has raised more than £600.

If anyone wishes to make a donation you can do this online at www.justgiving.com under a search for Kaci-Leigh.

You can also make a donation by texting KACI50 with the donation amount to 70070.
