Two lifelong friends attended the Queen’s first Garden Party of 2015 after being recognised for the community work they do in Mossley.

Irene Raddings and Marie Milne were delighted to be invited to London as the Queen threw open the doors of Buckingham Palace for the first of this summer’s garden parties.

Thousands of guests poured into the palace grounds, consuming an estimated 20,000 sandwiches and 27,000 cups of tea between them.

The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were among the
Royal guests as members of the public from across the country were invited to the esteemed event.
