The Dukinfield Marlins success story continued last week, with one talented member concluding another fruitful chapter.

Recent developments around the pool have seen a whole host of swimmers collecting personal bests at the Stockport Metro Mini Meet, but attentions recently turned to one member who took the plunge in a number of events and emerged from the pool victorious.

Step forward Patrick Braddock. The youngster, who has become accustomed to taking centre stage of late, competed in no less than 12 events over the course of two weeks.

The Cheshire County Championships lived up to its name as a highly regarded competition, with a number of exceptional performances showcased over its entirety.

However, Patrick staked his claim in the pool and represented the borough of Tameside in the best possible light.

The opening fixture on Saturday 24th January saw him compete in four events over the course of the day, claiming three personal bests in those events.

Donning his speedos and goggles, the youngster first took a dip during the Boys Open 100m Backstroke event that saw him emerge with an 11th place finish.

He followed that performance up with a 13th place finish in the Boys 50m Butterfly event and a third place finish in the Boys 100m Breaststroke race.

Claiming third place in the preliminary round of the Breaststroke event ensured he could showcase his talents in the final later in the day.
Needless to say, he stepped up to the mark and claimed a fourth place finish with a personal best of 1:36:45.

Patrick returned to the Championships the following day and competed in the Boys Open 200m Butterfly event, clinching fifth place with a time of 3:20:99.

If the month of January wasn’t successful enough, then the start of February certainly made up for it.

Unnerved by the gruelling prospect of competing in seven more events, Patrick splashed his way to success and returned home with six more personal bests.

The highlight of the day came during the Boys 50m Breastroke and 200m Breastroke event, which saw Patrick bestowed with silver medals at the tournaments conclusion.

The club detailed their delight in the youngster’s performance and stated “Some fantastic swimming by Patrick Braddock today at the Cheshire Championships. We are all very proud of him.”
