Ten-year-old Ella Atkinson from Stalybridge’s Sarah England School of Dance has secured a place at the prestigious Northern Ballet School’s Centre for Advanced Training.

According to her long-time mentor Sarah England, Ella has always shown a natural aptitude for ballet, but in the last two years has made it her mission to work hard and be the best she can be, a move that has clearly paid off.

After auditioning alongside hundreds of other hopefuls, Ella managed to impress the judges and secure one of only 10 places on the scheme.

“I’m just really proud of her, she’s worked so hard to get here,” said her mother, Laura, who also wished to add a
mention to Ella’s teacher, ‘Miss Sarah’ saying; “She’s been
unbelievably supportive of Ella over the years.

“She’s really, really excited about it. When she found out she squealed very loudly and jumped up and down.
“The first people she wanted to ring were her Grandma and Miss Sarah.”
