Just over a year after opening, Bluebird Care in Hyde have announced their closure.

The closure appears to be quite sudden for the local care provider as they had such a loyal customer base.

Owner Lynn Sbaih said: “I think a few people have been shocked.

What has happened is we’ve had lots of really loyal customers, they’ve been with us for over a year and some of them have sadly died or they’ve decided it is time to go to residential care and although we’ve had new customers coming to us, unfortunately they weren’t coming quick enough.

“We only have private customers and I think people need to know that they’ve made the right decision and that takes time so that they know they’ve made the right decision and rightly so, so really that’s what’s happened and inevitably we just haven’t got enough cash.”

Lynn originally trained as a nurse and has worked in the NHS since being 16 years old in A&E and Critical Care before being moved up into senior management.

She said: “I think I would do it all again, we do believe we made a difference to people’s lives and being in Tameside I think we have made a difference and that alone is worth having done it.”
