Victory for Bloods!
Friday 28th March 2014 @ 10:07 by Lisa B

Well, finally it’s happened!!

Droylsden supporters could once again try and remember how to celebrate a victory after Dave Pace’s men secured their first win since April 2013 at the Butchers Arms on Saturday.

As usual, they tried their best to blow the opportunity, throwing away a three-goal lead after strikes from Dominic Rouse, Sam Freakes and Sefton Gonzalez had given them a seemingly comfortable cushion.

Witton Albion came back with three goals of their own, before Gonzalez produced an 82nd minute winner that sent the Bloods’ fans into ecstatic scenes.

This was in the week that a Daily Express article had dubbed the team ‘The worst side in Britain’ after their dismal season. quest

Dave Pace had said in the media that he ‘didn’t care’ if his team won a game this season or not and that all he was concerned about was in securing the club’s long term financial future.

However, we all knew that really he was just protecting his players and that professional pride meant he was yearning for a win.

Well, now he has it and Droylsden will be looking to build on that victory when they entertain high flying Worksop Town at the Butchers Arms this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

With the ‘monkey’ off their backs maybe the players can now relax and go about doing their local rivals Ashton United a favour by defeating one of their promotion rivals.
