A new state-of-the-art primary school is to be built in Hyde after it was granted planning permission at last Wednesday’s Tameside Council Planning meeting.

It means students at Flowery Field Primary School will benefit from the rebuild by autumn next year after the proposal received unanimous approval.

The application came before the Speakers Panel after the Hyde school secured funding for redevelopment and expansion at its current Main Street site.

The existing separate junior and infant buildings are outdated and expansion is needed to meet the growing number of future pupils.

The new school building will allow Flowery Field to accommodate 630 children within a single ‘L’ shaped building from the start of the next school year.
