Crunch time for Celtic

Stalybridge Celtic face crunch time this Saturday when they travel to Cheltenham to play a Gloucester City side one place above them in the relegation dogfight.

Last Saturday the Celts looked to have eased their relegation worries when goals from Matt Regan, Kristian Platt and Ryan Croasdale saw them win their first game since early December as they defeated Vauxhall Motors 3-1.

When Joel Bembo-Leta gave them a first half lead at Guiseley on Tuesday night, it looked like being a great week for the Bower Fold outfit.

However, the West Yorkshire outfit came back to win 3-1 and this, coupled with wins for both Gloucester and Oxford City, has left Keith Briggs men looking over their shoulders once again.trlogo

Even though just two clubs go down this season, after Vauxhall announced they would be withdrawing from the league, things are still far from settled with Oxford enjoying four games in hand over the Celts and currently lying six points behind.

One player Celtic will have to manage without this weekend is defender Danny Rowe.

The centre-half was recalled from his loan spell by host club Rotherham United and was certainly missed in the midweek defeat in Yorkshire.

After facing Gloucester, the Celts have an immediate re-match with Guiseley when they come to Bower Fold on Wednesday night for another crucial match.

l Meanwhile Celtic have announced their 32nd Annual Sportsman’s Dinner will take place at Ashton Masonic Hall on Friday, April 25.

The guest speaker will be former Manchester City record signing Steve Daley and there will be comedy from Mike Langley.

Tickets are priced at £35 per head and can be purchased from the club.
