IN WITH THE NEW
The opening of the first new school building in the area for many years has been a monu- mental event for our community.
Nearly three weeks into the new term, the Glossopdale School students from Years 7 to 13 are settling well into the build- ing and making the most of their fantastic state-of-the-art facilities.
From brand new IT equipment and new furniture throughout the school, to a super new sports hall, a stunning sixth form, and wonderful theatre that seats over 260 people – Glossopdale really is a school for the community.
Carefully designed to reflect the local area, it is very bright, open and inclusive with stunning views for students and staff to appreciate their local area.
The wider community is also taking advantage of the new fa- cilities and clubs available to the public thorough the community area called ‘The Place’.
For the students, now being all together on one site means extra-curricular opportunities (at lunchtime and after school) are widely available: whatever their interests.
Throughout the week, students can take part in: pop choir, bad- minton, football, dance, chess, orchestra, samba band, basket- ball, drama, netball, cheerlead- ing, trampolining, chamber choir and much, much more.
Strongly underpinning everything at Glossopdale School is the slogan ‘The Best by All for All’ – a value exemplifying
the expectations of the highest standards in all aspects of school life – for both staff and students alike.
And, should you be worried about your child’s transition to secondary school, a strong pro- gramme for transfer starts very early in Year 6 with a dedicated team working with all the primary schools in the area; offering tast- er days, after-school clubs and a full induction to ensure a smooth move up.
Glossopdale’s ‘Open Door’ pol- icy means we welcome visitors
at any time. We look forward to seeing you at our Open Evening and Open Day and would be only too glad to assist you with your choice of the right secondary school for your child.
