  COURAGE AND CHARACTER
This past week has been different.
Like many of our readers, I have become completely absorbed by the wars, and how
they never stop, yet alter people’s lives forever. They ruin peace and harmony and cause unnecessary pain and hurt to innocent communities.
I watched the Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph in London on the television.
Just how many countries were involved? They came from all over the world, men and women, some came of their own free will.
Not being part of the Commonwealth did not deter them - their fearlessness, courage and character, giving their loyalty to the cause a stronger sense of purpose propelling them to go to Britain, to help in
the survival of the innocent.
When these wars get out of hand and
countries are invaded - who are helpless to defend themselves, as so often happens - it’s a power thing, that has brought out the worst in the Leader and instead of bringing a bond of friendship and culture, it becomes a disease of control and evil, abuse of their fellow man.
I am sorry to say there will always be wars, however the weapons being used nowadays are so destructive, that the earth may not recover enough to feed those left behind, for the earth and water if poisoned, will not recover, and these two main elements affect every living being.
We hear of accidents in the seas when oil
slicks happen and how destructive they are to life. We also hear about tons of plastic destroying life in the sea, this is serious - however when nuclear radiation lands on your little country through war, nothing will grow that is edible for 200 years.
It will become as a desert and your health suffers immediately.
People should be taught to respect each other’s country and money spent on weaponry and armoury should instead be invested in the improvement of living standards and educating would-be thugs, that they will not prosper.
A lot of Russians live in poverty, while the Armed Forces of that country have had billions spent on it.
It is the same in the USA, trillions of dollars have been spent on the Armed Forces and Space Programme, but no National Health Service and if you don’t have the money, you don’t get treatment and I can tell you that your health is your wealth.
I met a man who, 40 years after the
war, was still suffering from shell shock - a huge nervous breakdown indeed. Another gentleman has a bullet lodged in his spine, the doctors have told him it cannot be removed, or he will become paralysed.
It is time we lived in a world where bigotry and violence were discouraged, there is always room for improvement. Spread a little happiness!
