Five arrested in Hattersley as part of organised crime crackdown

Five people have been arrested as part of a police investigation targeting organised crime in Tameside

A number of warrants were executed in Hattersley this morning, resulting in the arrests of four men and one woman on suspicion of offences including kidnap, section 18 assault and drug-related offences.

The arrests are in relation to a kidnapping in Hattersley on September 8 2017, when a man was taken in a vehicle and seriously assaulted.

Greater Manchester Police have provided an increased presence of officers in Hattersley to provide assurance. Anyone with concerns is welcome to speak with them directly.

Chief Superintendent Neil Evans, Territorial Commander for Tameside, said: “Tackling organised crime is a priority for GMP and today’s activity is part of our ongoing work.

“Working alongside the local authority, we are determined to bear down on organised crime for the benefit of local communities and to make Tameside as safe and peaceful a place to live as possible.”
