Radcliffe 2-1 Droylsden

A disappointing afternoon for the Bloods at promotion contenders Radcliffe with goals from Kingsley Williams and a Ben Wharton penalty the difference between the two teams on a windy afternoon.

Droylsden were forced into changes with Ryan Hopper filling in at full back with Antoine Clarke injured, Michael Brewster returning into midfield while Dom Smith started up front in place of Liam Caddick.

Droylsden started the game well, Domaine Rouse’s run into the area forcing Martin into a save low down while Webb Foster held the ball up well for the same player who shot over minutes later.

The home team took the lead on 20 minutes, Kingsley Williams hitting the back of the net with a screamer of a shot from the edge of the area.

The home team proceeded to lay siege to the Bloods goal, Williams’s cross from the right flying across the goal only inches away from the boot of Owolabi and Scott Metcalfe’s effort fell just wide of Thompson’s post.

The Bloods started the second half well, Dom Smith bursting into the area before being stifled by the Radcliffe defence, Michael Brewster then saw his effort deflected behind for a corner.

However Droylsden fell further behind on 57 minutes, Ben Wharton converting from the spot after Ismael Camara had fouled.

Bloods brought on Ollie Ford and Faustin Makela for Dom Smith and Webb Foster but it was the home team that looked the more likely to increase their lead, Craig Lindfield going close with 20 minutes left on the clock.

The Bloods got a consolation goal deep in injury time, a terrific strike from Domaine Rouse giving Martin no chance but it was too little too late.
