Oldham Netball Club’s Berri Neill, Stacey Tankoua, and Grace Rimmer represented England at the Europe U17 Championship last weekend.

The trio were selected to represent their country after successfully completing trials in Loughborough in January.

The tournament, which took place in Huddersfield across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, marked the first time that Stacey and Grace had played for England.

It was a weekend to remember for all three girls, who contributed to a clean sweep of victories which subsequently helped England retain their crown.

England began their defence of the title with a tough challenge against Wales, but any nerves were quickly swept aside and the squad cruised to a 72-26 win.

The players, who were led by head coach Victoria Burgess and assistant coach Sheonah Forbes, faced a double header against Northern Ireland and Emirates on Saturday. The first game finished 89-12, while the second result was equally as impressive, with England running out 104-11 winners.

The young Roses completed their rout in style with a comprehensive 81-16 victory over Scotland on the final day.

Berri, who captains Oldham’s Under 16 squad, has enjoyed a memorable two years on court. Following a string of notable performances for Oldham, Berri was called up to the England squad and claimed her first cap in June 2018 in a 70-35 victory over Wales in Sheffield. The youngster further boosted her credentials during that game by earning a 100 per cent shooting record.

Having started with Oldham at the age of 11, Berri has enjoyed great success in a few short years. Amongst her most notable achievements are leading the Under 14s to the National Championship in 2017 and representing Manchester Thunder at U19 level.
