Woman fights for life after collision in Stalybridge

A 40-year-old woman is fighting for her life in hospital after sustaining serious injuries following a collision with a van last night.

The collision happened at 10.45pm on Darnton Road near to the junction of Ash Grove in Stalybridge.

Emergency services attended the scene following the collision, which involved a white Daihatsu Hi-Jet van.

The woman was taken to hospital and is described as being in a life threatening condition.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is helping police with enquiries.

No arrests have been made but police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Police Constable John Harrison-Gough from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “First of all, my thoughts are with the woman and her family as she fights for her life in hospital.

“We have launched an investigation into this incident and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed it to get in touch.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage as this could really help us with our enquiries.”
