Popular Ashton pub The Ash Tree will reopen on Tuesday following a £1.1 million refurbishment and expansion.

The JD Wetherspoon pub on Wellington Road now has a brand new beer garden at the side of the premises. A former snooker hall, which once occupied the adjacent site, was demolished to make way for the new outside area.

The beer garden can accommodate seated customers at freestanding dining tables and chairs, as well as fixed wooden bench and table booths.

The brick-paved garden includes a pagoda-style canopy over the seating area, with potted trees, climbing plants, flowers and shrubs and festoon lighting.

Behind the scenes, new staff facilities, new cellar areas and a larger kitchen have been added.

The pub, which first opened in July 1996, is managed by Ray and Andrea Carroll. Andrea said: “We are thrilled with all our new facilities, particularly the new garden which will provide a lovely outdoor space for our customers during warmer weather.”

The Ash Tree reopens at 8am this Tuesday, February 19.
