40-year-old woman dies after collision with van in Stalybridge on Saturday night

A 40-year-old woman who was involved in a collision with a van in Stalybridge on Saturday night has died.

The crash happened on Darnton Road, near to the junction of Ash Grove, at around 10.45pm on Saturday February 2nd.

The woman sustained serious injuries following the collision and has now sadly died in hospital.

The driver of the van stayed at the scene on Saturday night to help police with their enquiries and no arrests have been made.

Police Constable John Harrison-Gough of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts, as they were at the time of the collision, remain with the woman’s family. 

“In just a number of days, their lives have been turned upside down, losing a much loved member of their family. 

“Our investigation into the circumstances will continue so I’d ask anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.”
