Ashton 1s 21-17 Bury 1s

Ashton have won their third league game in a row lifting them to sixth in the ADM Lancs First Division.

Tries from Travis Powell and a first for Josh Fish, plus three penalties and a conversion from Tom Costello gave the hosts victory.

Ashton 2s 14-19 Marple 2s

Recovering from a tough first half conceding three tries and down 0-19, Ashton’s youngsters, which included 13 players under 20 years of age, responded with tries from Isaac Kelett and Joel Pearson, while Ryan Reidsma added two conversions. Despite Ashton’s resolve, Marple held out for the win.

Glossop Colts 14-10 Ashton Colts

A  close local derby lived up to expectations following Ashton’s 17-13 win at home.  Glossop scored first for 7-0, Krystian Wieteska scrambled over to narrow it to 7-5 at HT. Unfortunately too many penalties were given away for the game to get much rhythm going, but Glossop’s scrum pressure resulted in a further try converted for a 14-5 lead. Ashton were stung into action and Callum Taylor powered his way to the line again, reducing the gap to 14-10. Unfortunately for Ashton, they were unable to break down Glossop’s defence, and the score remained the same until the final whistle.

Ashton return Gambrel Bank on Sunday and face second place Kendal, who have a game in hand.
