A man has been charged after a boy was killed in a hit and run incident in Beswick on Saturday.

11-year-old Taylor Schofield was struck by a grey Volkswagen Golf on Albert Street, at around 6.10pm. Despite being treated by paramedics at the scene, he sadly died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

A man attended a police station later that night and was taken into custody for questioning.

Now, 32-year-old Michael Robinson, of Toft Road, Manchester, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He’ll appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today.

Yesterday, Taylor’s family paid tribute to him, describing him as a “very bright, intelligent, loving and caring kid.”
