Stalybridge Celtic have confirmed the signings of two new players ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Hednesford Town in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Chris Smalley, who has been on loan with the club since October, has signed a permanent deal following his release from Stockport County earlier this week. Smalley made his debut in the 1-0 victory over Nantwich Town in the FA Trophy on October 27. He has since made a further 12 appearances.

Meanwhile, Michael Howard has joined from Preston North End. The left winger has previously spent time on loan with Hednesford, where he scored six goals in 12 appearances.

In other news, Tom Brown has been released by the club after making 43 appearances. The midfielder made his debut in the 2-1 victory over Farsley Celtic in the FA Cup last season.
